The 39th National Qur’an Reading Competition

 

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recently concluded the 2013 National Qur’an Reading Competition with the theme “The Holy Qur’an: A Message of Peace and Unity”.

 

The event was graced by Muslim diplomats from Bangladesh, Brunie, Malaysia, Iran, Qatar, Indonesia, Egypt and some high ranking government officials and local Muslim leaders. His Excellency Waleed Ahmad Al-Kandari, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the embassy of Kuwait, was the guest of honor.

 

The event is one of the regular programs and activities of NCMF that is being supervised by the Bureau of Muslim Cultural Affairs headed by Director Sultan Masideng M. Salic.

 

This year National Qur’an Reading Competition is the 39th edition and was successfully held at the University of the Philippines Film Center in Diliman, Quezon City.

 

The Competition is conducted nationwide and is governed by guidelines and procedures which are applicable in every level of competition, starting from the community level through Municipal, district, provincial and regional, and finally the national level. The winners (male and female) of the first level of competition will qualify in the next level of competition, until finally reaching the national level.

 

The national champion will represent the Philippines in the international Al-Qur’an Reciter’s Assembly being sponsored annually by the Malaysian government. Other winners at the national level will also be given an opportunity to represent the country in other International Qur’an Reading Competition. 

 

NCMF Commissioner Raida B. Maglangit , Commissioner-in-charge of the Qur’an Reading Competition, will lead the Philippine delegation representing the following Qur’an reciters to the International Qur’an Reading Competition:
